Mt. St. Mary's opened up March Madness with a 67-66 win over the New Orleans Privateers.

The Privateers started off strong but an 8-0 run by the Mountaineers gave them the lead. Both teams played unselfish basketball but MSM ran a high tempo offence, shooting the ball a lot and getting offensive rebounds on missed shots resulting in the Mountaineers leading 32-29 at halftime. Privateers senior Nate Frye had a strong start from halftime putting up 12 points, he would finish with a team high 18. Mountaineers guard Junior Robinson had some clutch shots late to give his team a 1 point lead. The Privateers had the final possession of the game with 2.9 seconds remaining but failed to get a shot off. Junior Robinson was the MVP of this game he put up a game high 23 and shot 3-6 behind the arc, his impressive game certainly helped Mt. St. Mary's defeat New Orleans. MSM will now face of against #1 Villanova in the round of 64.
Wake Forest vs Kansas State
. Kansas started off on a 6-2 run, in what was a very offensive game, but Wake Forest came back and a 3 pointer by junior Mitchell Wilbekin tied the game at 11. Both went back and forth trading buckets but Kansas State ended the first half leading 40-36. Kansas State's Kamau Stokes would get fouled behind the 3pt line and make all three free throws to give Kansas State a 53-45 lead over Wake Forest. Sophomore Forward John Collins would bring the Demo Deacons within two of Kansas State with 5:28 left but that's as close as they would get, Kansas State would pull away late to win 95-88. Wesley Iwundu was the MVP of the game, his impressive stat sheet stuffing performance helped his team win their first game of the tournament. Honorable mentions too Wake Forest players John Collins and Bryant Crawford who combined for 46 points, 4 steals and a perfect 17-17 shooting from the free throw line. Kansas State will now play #6 Cincinnati on Friday.
